The South Metro Health Alliance (SMHA), Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network,  At Peace Therapy Centers, LLC, NAMI-Arapahoe/Douglas Chapter, Parker Pediatrics and Adolescents, PC, and the Parent Information Network of Cherry Creek School District are sponsoring a community outreach collaborative called Healing Our Youth: Get Educated! The event is designed to help parents, teachers and youth leaders become informed about mental health and wellness to support and heal our community’s youth. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 9am to 11:15am at the Student Achievement Resource Center (SARC), 14188 E Briarwood Ave, Centennial, CO 80112.

Healing Our Youth: Get Educated! is a free panel presentation for parents, teachers, youth workers, and anyone who is interested in helping improve the mental wellness of youth in our community. The event will include learning what steps to take concerning behavioral issues, important facts about the brain, and how to identify unhealthy adolescent behavior. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with mental wellness experts to have one-on-one conversations with specialists and therapists who will be volunteering their time at the event.

SMHA is a network of dedicated health care providers and community-based organizations who serve the uninsured and underinsured in Arapahoe and Douglas counties, with a mission of uniting the community for better access to health care for all.

No registration is required. More detail about the program can be found at www.smhaco.org/healing. Two further presentations are planned for May in Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree, and these require prior registration. Any questions can be directed to Traci Jones, SMHA Communications Specialist at 303-793-9615, or email traci@smhaco.org.
